Did you try to send more than US$50? For new Paypal accounts, while Paypal does not mention it on their site, you can only send a maximum of $50 for your credit/debit card for payment/purchases through Paypal. This has happened to me quite a few times when I registered a new Personal Paypal account, and I was only able to send more than $50 after the account was 3 months old.

One suggestion to overcome this and make your purchase - ask for a friend or family to send some funds to your Paypal account, enough to cover the amount of your purchase.

Hope this helps!

P.S. - Go easy with the title..lol. I'm just another internet shopper.. ;)

@ManGo - assuming that you have linked your Maybank Debit Card to your Paypal account and Verified your Paypal account, you can buy the $5 item directly using Paypal. Hope this helps!

Not quite sure about the minimum amount, but I had RM15 in my account when I added the card to Paypal and charged USD1.95 (for card verification).
As for your second question - Yes, in this post, I am referring to the new Maybank ATM card with the Visa logo printed on the card.
